EDIT - I just had an idea... if you have a godaddy discount code post it here and I will use it. just make sure and post the dates that it will work since their codes seem to be rather short lived.

If you are buying a domain name, or renewing one that you already have,
you can get a discount at Godaddy by using a promo code.
I always look all over for these codes and most of them don't work.
but lately I have been finding working codes here:

FatWallet (http://www.fatwallet.com/GoDaddy-coupons/)

I just used this one: (September 7, 2011)

gdz913r = 31% off any order

and it worked, even for renewing a domain name,

(which most coupons will not do)

they do expire every month or so, but this site has been pretty good for several months about keeping the codes current.
before I would have to search google then try about a dozen different sites before I could find a code that would work.

it's not easy saving a couple bucks.

looks like that link is still working, they have all new codes up for godaddy domain name registering.
hard to find someone who keeps their codes current like this site does.

and it really annoys me looking all over for one of those codes then you go to try and use it and it's expired like the 10 other codes you tried..... aaaaagh.

I like namescheap for registrar services..retailmenot.com has coupons for them. no charge url forwarding to my no-ip.com url (works perfect for my dymanic IP based server stuff).. free email redirection and easy access to all my dns records.. I got a free year of a properly verified SSL certificate that I haven't "activated" yet.. 8.95 I think mine worked out to after coupon.

what is no-ip.com ?

No-ip.com is like dyndns.com.... you sign up for a free account and pick a subdomain based on one of their available "freebie level" choices.. for example bounceme.net.. you could create elmer.bounceme.net for free (unless someone else is using that one)..

You then install a DUC (ie dynamic update client) on your computer.. everytime you power up your computer it goes out to no-ip.com and updates the IP address associated with elmer.bounceme.net. If you are running a server you can then give out the URL http://elmer.bounceme.net , etc and it will always link back to the server you are running on that machine.

What registrars offer (sometimes) is called url forwarding where you can have DNS lookups for your domain (elmershome.com for example) be re-issued as DNS lookups on another domain (like elmer.bounceme.net). The advantage of this is that you have a "real" .com domain which normal has an IP address associated with it that takes 3 days for changes to propagate aroound the world, and you can be hosting the content on a server on a machine whose IP address can change without notice. (Without the url forwarding you would have to check your IP regularly and when it changed, manually update your A and CName DNS records and then wait up to 3 days while the changes propogated around the world before your .com domain name pointed to your server's new IP address)

I just renewed a domain and I had to try about 15 different codes before I found one that worked at Godaddy,

but this one works, has the largest discount I have seen, and you can use it to renew a single .com site, no $100 minimum order or anything.

gdz532a = 31% off any order

- I am not making any money off this, I have no idea who's discount coupon code this is, I just used to and saved some money so I thought I would pass it along to anyone else who uses Godaddy.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought they were domain names that were discounted because they were slightly 'off' - like discount seconds shops - not wanted or something...
like:

Nosebook.com - social network

Pairodice.com (have not checked this out)

Penny your YouTub.com site is a phishing site...

Warning: Suspected phishing site!
The website at youtub.com has been reported as a “phishing” site. Phishing sites trick users into disclosing personal or financial information, often by pretending to represent trusted institutions, such as banks.

Oh, we seem to be safe with nosebook.com :D

Totally off topic though, I looked at the firefox Phishing information page - and noticed there is a whole process for getting your site off that list. That got me thinking, if someone wanted to shut down your site, they could just get you listed on that - I hope getting on it is harder than getting on the 'no fly' list

I am going to go report facebook.com, google.com, and youtube.com and see if I can get all 3 shut down. :D

Please GOD er Elmer, not Google...To Google or Not To Google..
...that is the inconceivable question.

I would be ALMOST like those people that Jay Leno interviews on the streets of LA.

If Leno met DA he would say "surely you can't be from LA....DA":D

ok, I will leave Google running for now,

but only because you asked Webscout.

otherwise they would already be gone.
