I was watching the weather channel while knitting as I like to do and saw that there was a tornado in London, England today. They were saying it is unusual in England and especially at this time of year...weird.
are you sure you didn't accidentally switch on the comedy channel? :D
I didn’t know they could even have a tornado in England?

yes, its true. Around 8 miles from me. Took off lots of roofs, and knocked down some walls. Luckily only one person hurt thank goodness. if it had been a busy time of the day, there would have been many more.

Well, that's good. I'm glad there weren't more hurt...and you were safe Cheri.
I was once caught in a Tornado in London (Canada) when I was out riding a bike. The sky turned this bizarre orangey colour and I went into a mall. The carts were blowing all over, and when I rode home it was like riding in a stream and everyone was out looking at their roofs in the street. I didn't see a funnel, just the wind/rain/damage. They are very sudden and quite scary.

Yes, I can imagine that penny, very scary. I didnt see this one, and havent ever seen one.
I used to live in Kansas and you see a lot of them there. Normally you’re suppose to go hide in the basement, but one time when I was about 12 I decided I wanted to watch it.
It was a very strange funnel, because the wind was not that strong were I was, but it was close enough where I could see when it would suck up a house or something all the stuff going up in it.
My guess is it was several miles away, but I could see the path it was moving and it wasn’t getting closer to our house so I didn’t see the big deal, but I was standing in front of a large plate glass window watching it, which was not the smartest thing, after a little while my aunt realized I was missing and came up from the basement and made me go down there.
That was the closest funnel I have seen… wish I had some pictures of it.
One other time I was in a car and the wind was really high but there was not a funnel you could really see, just kind of black every where, but it picked the car up just high enough to carry us across the road into a field and then set us down again.

"We're not in Kansas anymore..."
I been wanting to say that forever!
That's very exciting Bling...you sound like you were a handful as a kid. I wasn't, I was as good as gold...well, except for that time with the cucumber, lighter, and puppy, but we don't talk about that ... :D :D

Wow Bling, I havent seen anything like that, only on the TV. As far as I know, there has been two tornados in the last 2 weeks in the Uk, the one that Penny mentioned and another one in Wales. Very unusual weather for here. But then, its the same for all round the world so it seems. Either floods or droughts and its getting worse. Where I am is south east England, the weather man say that within 10 years we will have the same weather as the south of France, and will be able to grow the same fruits as they do, with vineyards for wine growing. We have some vineyards already.
Penny, I lived a lot of other places too if you need any more lead-ins. :D
and they don't call Kansas Tornado Alley for nothing.
I really didn't know this but I just looked it up....
Most of the world's tornadoes happen in the United States. The area where most of them occur is know as Tornado Alley. There are about 750 tornadoes each year in the U.S. and about 100 people each year are killed by tornadoes.
