I just watched City of God (2002), I was thinking it was a religious movie, but there is not all that much in it about religion.
It's about some kids who live in a violent neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, and how things work out for them.
the movie has subtitles, which I never like, but I started watching this movie and then wanted to see how it ended, so I guess that's the sign of a good movie.
