Hi all,

I just wanted to post this out here so everyone can read this who does not know about the new rapidshare system.

As of a couple of months now Rapidshare has changed their subscription system. In the past it was Unlimited downloads and storage. Now it's like this:

Price for RapidPro:

Price / 30 days Secured storage Flexible traffic / 30 days
495 Rapids 50 GB 150 GB

Price for additional secured storage or traffic:
Price for additional secured storage: Price for additional traffic:
1 GB = 2 Rapids / 30 days 100 GB = 280 Rapids

* You can upload as many files as you like.
* Your secured storage gets billed according to exact Gigabyte usage.
* Traffic never expires.
* Your file transfer will get prioritized.

The costs are of course changing accordingly: 30 days of RapidPro now cost 495 Rapids. The smallest Rapid Package has 500 Rapids and costs 5.99 Euros.

Did you notice the 150/GB for 6 Euro's there?

Because of this, many uploaders, like me, are switching to other filehosting companies. I am a member of many 0day release forums and they have all stopped uploading to Rapidshare, this is the only reason I am sharing this with you guys out here.

I myself have started uploading to Fileserve (dot) com and Hotfile (dot) com. They all offer the same speed and true UNLIMITED downloading! I really recommend that everyone here who uploads also switches to one of the other hosts. The other benefit is that they actually pay you a small, very small, amount of money per download. (It's one file per IP per so many hours, it's worth nearly nothing, but it's just an extra they offer for now.)

I used to love RS, but they have dug a big grave for themselves. Please share this information with others that you know download and upload.

Thanks for the info, ParanOId. I have used both Fileserve and Hotfile and they are both very good. Kind of like how RS was...years ago. I guess it started going bad for them after they lost several court decisions. It's really over for them now...they may be the only ones that don't know it.

Is anyone out there using fileserve with Primus (Canada)...ie are speeds reasonable?

I have Hotfile and it is so slow I can't use it.

When it comes to older films there is a lot of RS out there.

the reason for older films being on RS is simply because they are older ^_^
I cannot tell you the speeds of Fileserve for Canada, cuz I'm in Europe, I get speeds till the max of 2mb/s per file I download. I'm in a house with a shared connection though.
