I may have to watch it a 2nd time so I can really keep up with all that was going on.

I won't say anything else about it right now, so I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. (but you better hurry, I am not good at keeping my mouth shut.) :D

Conviction
A working mother puts herself through law school in an effort to represent her brother, who has been wrongfully convicted of murder and has exhausted his chances to appeal his conviction through public defenders.
Hilary Swank - kind of a slow go, like Million Dollar Baby - but interesting.

The only problem with Conviction was the brother was "Guy" from Galaxy Quest - one of my favourite movies - and I kept expecting him to be funny, but he was tragic.
I wasn't too big on Love and other drugs, and I love romantic movies, but she (the sick girl) really put me off with her endless whining, so I never actually saw the end as she was zapping the strength out of my eyes.

Chronicles Jack Harris, one of the pioneers of internet commerce, as he wrestles with his morals and struggles not to drown in a sea of conmen, mobsters, drug addicts, and pornstars. IMDB

Highly recommended to anyone looking for a tantalizing and action packed crime movie!
Middle Men is a film that many should watch and understand how the possibility of purchasing products online was created. This film offered an extremely entertaining perspective on Internet porn and offered a thrilling ride of crime fighting and hustling. Luke Wilson who plays a level headed character finds himself in all sorts of messes and throughout this film can you really understand how a normal guy could get caught up in a crazy world. Luke is perfect for this role and really shines with Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht. These three guys together blew me away. I found myself watching this film laughing, feeling exhilarated, and intrigued to learn about another world I had no idea about (Internet Porn). It's interesting to hear what really happens in this kind of world and how people can overcome obstacles. Especially, when their family is on the line.

I would highly recommend this film to anyone looking to watch a tantalizing and action packed crime movie. I will definitely buy this movie when it comes out on DVD.

I did see the Hereafter and enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that keeps your interest as the players will all interact at the end. What will happen?
The ending was a bit wierd IMHO. Not a memorable film but if you are into 'the hereafter' you might want to have a look.

The special effects at the beginning were so realistic. There is little that cannot be CGenerated.

I just watched Love and other drugs and I really liked the guy at the beginning, so I went ahead a watched it all the way through,
but toward the end I really didn't like the guy that much after he changed,
and the girl kind of went down hill too.
but it was close enough to the end that I could finish it.

I don't even know what they could have done to help the ending,
if she would have died that really wouldn't have fixed it,
but that might have been better.
I think they just kind of painted themselves into a corner with this one.
anyway, the first part is good enough that it made the whole movie worth watching,
but the ending is not very good.

I don't want to see "127 hours" as I watched "Frozen" and it put me off that kind of movie.
I enjoyed "The King's Speech" and I thought I wouldn't, but it was so well done.
"The Green Hornet" was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long while. I was confused by who was their target audience...sure wasn't me. I remember watching a bit of the Green Hornet series, but this movie just trashed the whole concept for me.
"Morning Glory" Full of stars - Harrison Ford included, and is an ok comedy about a morning show, a crusty anchor and a young up and coming producer who got on my nerves...but I enjoyed the movie anyway.
"The Tourist", good, but really predictable, kind of an ok waste of time, crime/action flick. Angelina Joelie was ok, but I liked "Salt" a zillion times better. It was a great movie.

"The Tourist" is a just another remake of the french movie; "Anthony Zimmer".

Since very few people in USA can watch a movie and read subtitles at the same time, Hollywood just makes a remakes of some french movies; they just put more BS action so Americans will watch it.

Just have watched "Nokas (2010)". The movie portrays Norway's most spectacular robbery, where 11 men occupied central Stavanger for twenty minutes and escaped with 57 million kroner (appx $10 million). A police officer was shot and killed. Since it was made in Norway there are English subtitles.

ok, back to the movies...

I watched "No Way Out" 1987 with Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman and Sean Young.

the only reason I watched this movie was because some big shot who does movie reviews said it was one of the great movies of all time.

so maybe I had my expectations set too high, but I really struggled with this movie, I thought it was ok at best. The plot had a lot of holes in it, which I can put up with if the rest of the movie is great, but this one was just ok. The acting was not bad and I really like the stars who were in it, but it seemed like it could have been a great movie, but it just wasn't.

I guess I kind of like movies where someone who is making a lot of money loses it all, not sure why but maybe it makes me feel better about myself or something.

I did a bunch of research after seeing the movie and it is pretty much a true story. It is about a guy who is a lobbyist in Washington DC and all the stuff that happens to him. I just thought it was really well done.

I watched the movie Kill The Irishman, it was really a good movie.

I remember seeing in the news about when his house was blown up, he was on the 2nd floor and ended up alive in the basement of the house after the blast.

after watching Kill the Irishman and really enjoying seeing that movie,
I have been looking for other movies based on true stories.

I happen to come across Primeval, which is based on the true story of a crocodile who eats people in Africa and a group of Americans who travel over there to catch him.

it was not the best movie, but still a little interesting because it was a true story.

yeah, if your not doing anything else then it's ok to watch. but don't get any high hopes. The special effects were kind of so so, the crocodile seemed to change size depending on the scene.
But it did draw me in a tiny bit,
and I liked the woman reporter,
not sure who she is but she was nice to look at.

if you watch it, let me know what you thought about it.

and to make it clear,
I am not saying that Primeval was as good as Kill the Irishman or anything like that.
just that because it was based on a true story I found it not to be a complete waste of time.

I guess I have 3 classifications for movies, 1. good, 2.bad, and 3. could watch it if you have nothing else to do.

this is in the 3rd group for sure.

I wonder if that female reporter made any other movies?
I could watch them when I have nothing else to do also.

usually good looking women are nothing but a lot of trouble,
but the one in Primeval looks like she can take care of herself.

and like I always say, any woman who wants to help try and catch a crocodile can't be all bad.

The Way Back - Good. About a group of men who escape from a Siberian gulag and walk thousands of miles to freedom.
I like these surviving against all odds movies and this one didn't have a lot of being chased by dogs and such, like the Fugitive or Prison Break, more battling nature.

just watched Year One (2009)
it was pretty funny and had some good slap stick humor,

IMDb says - After being banished from their tribe, two hunter-gatherers encounter Biblical characters and eventually wind up in the city of Sodom.

if your in the mood for a silly movie that has some pretty funny lines this one would work. it does poke some fun at religion and probably a few other groups too.

I also watched Appaloosa (2008)
thanks to Dark Angel :)

this was a western with some really good character development,
the people in the movie are pretty complicated and put in some stressful situations.
I thought they did a great job of showing how different people deal with things that happen to them.

I thought this was a pretty good movie and I will probably watch it again at some point.

I was searching for The Way Back and couldn't find it, but while I was looking I ran across King of California (2007), and it turned out to be a really good movie.

Michael Douglas does a great job as the crazy father. The daughter does a great job also, although I don't know who she is.

plot:
An unstable dad who after getting out of a mental institution tries to convince his daughter that there's Spanish gold buried somewhere under suburbia.

The Way Back - from wikipedia -

The film is loosely based on The Long Walk, a book by Sławomir Rawicz, depicting his alleged escape from a Siberian gulag and subsequent 4,000-mile walk to freedom in India. Very popular, it sold over 500,000 copies and is credited with inspiring many explorers. In 2006, the book was effectively debunked. The BBC unearthed records (including some written by Rawicz himself) that showed that, rather than having escaped from the Gulag, in fact in 1942, he had been released by the USSR

I did some more research and found out that a group of people probably did escape and make the walk, just that the author was not one of them.

I just watched The Warrior's Way 2010 I usually don't like Asian movies where the people fly around and stuff, but this one really made it work.

The guy is a ninja and a bunch of other ninjas are chasing him, now that right there would make me not want to watch it, but I didn't know that when I started watching,
and it was done so well by the time I figured out what was going on I was already hooked and watched the whole thing,
and really liked it.
it also has a pretty good plot, and interesting characters so it just made a good movie.

well The Warrior's Way 2010 is a little out there, it's not a regular type movie so I can easily see how some people wouldn't like it.

the thing that really got my attention was just the camera angles and the way they shot some of the scenes. I just thought it was really artful, not like most where people just show up in front of the camera.
This movie was different and I really appreciated what they were trying to do.

but your mileage may vary on this one. So if you don't like the first part of it, then you probably won't like any of it.

I would be interested to hear what you thought of it.

AKA Elle s'appelait Sarah (2010)
Will need sub but there is a fair amount of English

I saw this last night. Not a comedy. The user review below pretty much tells it.
Well done.
Plot: A tragic and shameful moment in French history continues to have consequences in the present day in this screen adaptation of the novel by Tatiana de Rosnay. Julia Jarmond (Kristin Scott Thomas) is an American writer living in Paris with her husband, Bertrand (Frà (C)dà (C)ric Pierrot), an architect who is restoring a block of apartments in Paris owned by his family. Julia learns that Bertrand’s family obtained the building through less than honorable means; the original owners were Jews who were forced to sell in the wake of the Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup in 1942, when the Nazi-affiliated Vichy government arrested over 13,000 Parisian Jews
User Reviews

An American journalist in Paris embarks on a story about the Holocaust and discovers connections between the past, her present marriage and her unborn child. Beginning as an article on the 1942 roundup of Jews in France as they were sent off to Auschwitz, it soon becomes a journey of self-discovery as the protagonist stumbles upon a terrible secret of a family forced out of their home and a young girl called Sarah who makes an impulsive decision to leave her younger brother locked in a cupboard. A film about the Holocaust is certain to be moving, but the circumstances in this one are harrowing, the truth astonishing, and the coincidences as unbelievable as the tragedy itself. It is a journalist's quest to dig up the lives of others and unleash the truth, but this film show the price of these actions. Sarah's Key takes us from Paris to Brooklyn to Florence and ultimately to the centre of the heart – showing that even the truth has its cost. And the sadness, as much as we try to unlock it, can never be erased.

Before I say anything about the movie I wanted to give you a warning,
many people say they would have liked this movie better if they had not seen the trailer.

and I agree the trailer really kind of ruins the movie.

the movie I am talking about is Triangle, so be sure and watch the movie first before you see the trailer.

This is one of those movies you need to watch very close, even things that seem unimportant will turn up later to mean something.

I didn't pay enough attention, so now I am going to have to watch this movie again.

Unknown 2011

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1401152/

Plot: A man awakens from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one, (not even his wife), believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.

RT Consensus: Liam Neeson elevates the proceedings considerably, but Unknown is ultimately too derivative — and implausible — to take advantage of its intriguing premise.[..]

I watched this. Lots of action but I agree with the above. The car chases are well done.
Not a bad waste of time however. Seeing it once is enough.

interesting point Webscout, I was just thinking that movies really need to be broken down into more than 2 groups.
you have the bad movies, those are obvious.
but some movies are good one time, but other movies are good and I could watch them again.

the other idea I had was that maybe some movies are excellent, not just good.
so then a good movie would be one you could watch once and be ok with it, but not really want to see it again.
but then some movies like blade runner, or star wars are not just good, they are excellent, or at least something better than just "good".

it's just a theory I am working on.

The Long Riders was a pretty good movie.

I also just watched Dear Mr. Gacy, a movie about a 19 year old Jason Moss (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Moss_(writer)) who interviews a serial killer for a class assignment.

This was a true story, so I always find those more interesting.

and Jason killed himself (http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2006/Jun-13-Tue-2006/news/7920651.html) on 6-6-06 which I found out while doing some research after watching the movie.

This is an interview Jason did after he wrote his book about serial killers.

two guys break into his house and kill his wife and kid, then they find out the hard way that he worked for the government and his job was figuring out ways to kill people.

I didn't get why he killed the guy in the cell with him? he was all about justice and making things right. But it sure seemed like that guy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
