I don't know how feasible this is to do, but since this board is organized a little differently than most, I was thinking it would be good idea if new posts for downloading can be also posted to a What's New section. Since some of the forums are arranged alphabetically (movies. music, etc.) it is hard to tell if something new has been added to them unless you want to search thru all the various subcategories. I don't know if new posts can automatically be added to this second forum I am suggesting or if it is just my ignorance speaking. Posts to the "Whats's New" formum can be rolled off after some period (say thirty days) to keep the topic from clogging up.

Hope I made myself clear and it is not TOO dumb an idea.

Thankyou for your suggestion. Trouble is with that, it would double our database in time and its very large as it is. We have to pay for hosting and the bigger we are, the more it costs and is a huge problem. Very few want to help us with the costs as it is.

So I feel it would be difficult for us to do what you suggest. But we are always prepared to listen to members opinions.

Your idea has merit mykhel. I'm not quite shure if it is technically feasible, and if it is, how it would impact on our resources. Just wait a while, and let other staff respond to your idea. ;)

under "quick links" at the top you can look at todays posts, and that will kind of do what your asking.

hey,

there's a link at the top of the page that says "New Posts", that shows all the new posts made within last 24 hrs (i think!):

That may be so, but it also displays posts that have been made last year!
If I click on the 'New Post' option in the menu bar, I would expect to see new posts since I was last logged on, not a whole lot of old posts I've seen before.

Why not being able to sort topics by their starting date and not by its last post?
You can have an option of sorting by latest first, or oldest first... I am sure that shouldn't take too much ressources... :D

if you go to the bottom of the page where the threads are listed there is a box called "Display Options"
you can change the display options there, and sort by different options.

you can also change it in your "User CP" and it should work for all the sections.

Hi Elmer, thanks for that tip, it works great. Makes it a lot easier to just see new threads since last logged on. :)

glad it works for you,

the other thing I do for new threads, is look at "todays posts" under "quick links" at the top, and look for threads with 0 replies.

Would even be better if there was a "todays threads" option available m8.
