Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.

They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be
out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike
strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of
the impact on existing technology:

a. no more air valves
b. no more air compressors at gas stations
c. no more repair kits

SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South
Carolina plant of Michelin. It will be awhile
before they are available to the automotive
industry.

Cool, like to test drive it myself. Wonder what would happen if you get on it hard and spin the tires:spin::woot::goodjob:

Wonder how they ride/test in VERY cold conditions.

I have been putting air in my tires and fixing flats for so long, I can't imagine doing it any other way. :D

I'd hate to drive on those wheels under our hot summer conditions. Those plastic flexible spokes would melt like butter and you'de still have a flat tyre. :lol3:

it sounds cool, but i dunno, it seems a little too freaky for me.

I wonder how it affects the handling of the car? how fast can you drive over speed bumps? comfort? Impact on existing suspension?

The concept is like something i'd expect out of Compton or Long Beach with some dude driving a bouncing car.

That said, if it's proven safe and better than existing tires, i'll be sure to add the tyres to my wish list. :)

Looks to me that if you left them sitting in one place for too long they would develop a flat spot and would not be 100% round for a while. plus I would not like to hit an Australian Pot hole doing 110KLM PH with them on my car.I don't care what they say,I'm sure they would have to shatter.

You should see some pot holes in the Simpson Desert BK, they fill up with 'Bulldust' (very fine red dust like talcum powder) and the track looks smooth until your car hits. Some cars have disappeared in some large ones, never to be seen again. - No bull! :o:D

Yes I know Kanga,,I hit one doing 180 klm/ph while trying to avoid a Drop bear which went straight through the radiator of my VW Beetle. No wonder they call it Bull Dust :)

It's new, let's give it a chance. Doesn't matter if it's cold or hot weather, it is still made of the simmilar material, so why should it melt? Because of no air in it?! Don't think so.
