3 Men go to a motel

They ask for one room for the three of them.

The man behind the desk tells them that the room will cost them $30.

So each man putt up $10 and went to the room.

Sometime Later the man behind the desk realized that the room was only $25.

So he sent the bellboy to their room with $5.

On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split the $5 evenly between the three men.

So he decided to give the men a $1 each

Then he had the other $2 to keep for himself.

This meant that the three men paid $9 each for the room.

This is a total OF $27.

When you add the $2 that the bellboy kept that will equal $29.

Nowhere, the cost of the room was 25 dollars, each of the 3 man got back a dollar which makes the total 28 dollars and the bellboy kept 2 dollars which is a total of 30 dollars.

the trick is you are trying to add the $2 to try and get to $30 which seems to make a lot of sense, and can be very confusing. That's what makes it a great riddle. :)

But you really have to subtract the $2 to get back to $25.

There is no extra dollar. The three men paid $30 for a room. The manager realized that the room only ought to have cost them $25, so he sent the bellhop back with $5 to be returned to them. Out of the original $30, here's where it all went: Kept by motel: $25 Stolen by bellhop: 2 Returned to men: 3 --- Total: $30
