I have just recently been hit with the Vundo virus among others which managed to get past my firewall, trojan detector and virus scanner.
It completely ruined the registry and I was unable to repair it.

Not being a WINDOWS person I reinstalled and lost almost everything, which luckily was not much.

Whats the best protection available at the moment or combination of protection ?

After getting multiple infections while running Norton 360, I've gone back to McAfee Internet Security, and have been good so far. One of the risks we take, with all the downloading and testing of programs for our members!!! Good Luck, my friend.

Thanks Revroy

As usual you are right. I am sure I got it testing some software.

...certainly one of the fears when playing in the ether.
You certainly had what appeared to be good protection..but those 'bugs' are clever.

These are my top choices for security software;-

Antispyware - Spyware Doctor
Antivirus - CA Antivirus
Anti Trojan - Trojan Hunter
Anti Rootkit - Rootkit Unhooker
Firewall - Zone Alarm Pro
Security Suits - Bit Defender

To test software downloaded from the Internet, I use a desktop PC not connected to the net. Got a backup image, so if the proverbial hits the fan, .....format and restore from the backup image and in 20 minutes I'm up and running again. ;)

Well penny, it's quite simple, a nastry virus is nastier then a nasty virus but not as nasty as a nastry nastry virus. :D

....sorry Roo but a nasty virus to the 3rd (Nasty3) is definitely worse. I have yet to see Nasty4 but I am sure someone will.:-) :D

.....quite correct Webby...I can see you are understanding the concept however you got the wrong virus, it's the nastry virus that is real BAD, not the nasty.

Penny dear, please go to the top of the class! You've decoded the 'R' in nastry perfectly! It's a pleasure to have you as one of my disciples. As you can see from other posters, they fail to grasp the difference between the nasty and the nastry virus. Thankfully, I've got the patience of a saint.....hm....Saint Kangaroo...yeah,....sort of rolls of the tounge easily....don't you agree? :D
