I have been using 7-zip because when it installs it gives you the option of unziping files to the directory you want by right clicking on the file. you can extract to the current directory - which I do a lot, or another directory.

The other thing I like about it is I think it has 15 different kinds of compression that it can read, so I don't need a dozen different programs to do all the different kinds.

it has worked on eveything I have used it on until today, I ran across a new rar file. I even downloaded the newest version of 7-zip and it still didn't work. So I am trying to figure out if there is a new rar format that I now have to get a seperate program for, or are these rar files I got just bad?

anyway, just wondering what archive program everyone else was using?

Winrar for me, cos its easy to use and easy to put in a password. Probably they all do this but I am too lazy to find out. :D :) :p

I just found a program that said it would unarchive over 200 different compressions types. I didn't even know there were that many different ways you could compress a file. dang.

I have used zip my whole life, I really thought I was doing something to add rar to that, and probably only because I could use it from the same program. :)

I've tried a few and still do, but always seem to come back to Winrar, it just does everything I need. I tried KGB and think it has alot of promise, but just takes so long, even on medium compression, but I can see the good side. I'd rather spend more time compressing a file than downloading it.
