View Full Version : Microsoft Windows updates
If you are using Microsoft Windows don't forget to do regular updates to keep your system up to date.

I keep losing this link so I thought I would post it here.
I just checked and I think my windows operating system had around 75 security risks from not being updated recently.
And for all the people who use Firefox I think microsoft has made this site so that it won't work. So you probably have to run IE before you go to this site to get the updates.

I went to update my windows xp - but it said it was a pirated copy and I should call someone and wouldn't let me update to a higher service pack. Do you think that matters? Paranoid that I am, I don't trust Microsoft and think sometimes the service packs cause more grief than anything else. I heard one of the latest 'improvements' by microsoft ie makes flash not run properly - hmm, big improvement.
That must be something new with xp, I have a bunch of 2000 pirated copies and never had a problem.
The main thing with the updates is they do patch security holes. But if you don't have a problem with viruses or other mal-ware. Then it's probably not a big deal.

Why dont you guys just put it on auto update ?
When Penny said she couldn't watch when she was unzipping a large file, I knew there was something that reminded me of... and this is it. I really have a problem with auto updates, I have no idea why maybe it's just a control thing or something. But when programs start updating themselves it really bugs me.
Firefox is the only program I let auto update, all the rest of them I turn it off.

For auto update, just let it install the files onto your computer, but use the express install, so YOU get to chose what your updating.

Whenever I try and update I get this message.

I have tried every xp validation thing - even that kill bill one with the really hard to read text and Anime pictures - but I don't understand most of it - coding stuff is not my thing...it's boring.
Anyway, I really want service pack 2 - so I can try that adobe premier thing to play with videos.
If someone could walk me through it, I would be grateful !
Thanks
