Not that anyone ever wants to talk to me :( (oops no sad...that's sad) but I have actually missed it a few times...is there a way to make a little sound when something happens in that talking thing (is that the 'shout box?')...also, it only refreshes when you move around, is that right? Sometimes I go off and do something, but leave Bling up and when I come back and go somewhere - I have a whole conversation appear. These may be impossible to do anything about, I know my Mom asks me to do something that she thinks is simple and it's incredibly difficult (or the reverse).

Thats not true penny. If you put a message in the shout box and I am around, I will talk to you. :D :p :)

There are shoutboxes that have other features but the one we have is kind of basic. I don't know any that make a sound when updated, but there are a lot of them that will refresh by themselves every 2 or 3 seconds so it looks like everytime someone types it appears on your shoutbox. The problem with these shoutboxes is that they only work if there are not too many people using them and you have a very fast server.
Some people complain with as few as 4 people saying that it slows there site down a lot. Others seem to be able to get away with a dozen or more people using them and still do ok.

If your interested I can go into the reasons why... if not all I can tell you is that if you click on the send button without typing a message it will check to see if there are any new messages, and if you go to a new page on the site it will check to see if there are new messages.

Other than that it does not check for new shoutbox messages.
