Hi from a HI-TECH Redneck

I reside in Burlington,N.C,US.I think everyone has there own definition of a redneck. Let me just set the record straight. Redneck> a charismatic, innovative, gentleman, intelligent peace loving person that wouldn't tolerate too much BS from someone or something.I used to do roofing work for a living(24 years). But an accident in July of 2001 put me on the sidelines. I fell off a house I was working on. Sustained a traumatic brain injury, BTW I'm still recovering from. Was in a coma for 5 weeks, spent 8 weeks total in the hospital. When I got I had a computer wait for me.Never used one before. Only thing I knew about them was how to turn it on. BTW it was a Compaq Passaro 533mHz AMD CPU with a HDD on it's death bed. I manage to keep working for 6 months. Windows 98SE ka-ka. Then I got a HP pavilion 524n 1.6gHz Windows XP(first part of 2002). The motherboard went kapop a year ago. So I bought me a case that's nicely vented, a ASUS MB that can be upgraded, kept my 1.6 gHz processor, 2 HDD's, 768 MB of ram & a nVida 5200 graphics card. I was ready to go I thought. Tried to use my recovery CD's from HP but they wouldn't work. Managed to get my hands on a MSDN CD that had XP SP2 home,Pro & tablet on it. Used Magic ISO copied the CD edited the setup.ini file which contains the product identification number. PID for short. IT read something like this PID= 0000784. I take the last 3 digits of the ID# & changed them to OEM. Went to Walmart copied the product key off a CPU with XP SP2 on it. This the CPU I'm using now fully legit as far as MS is concerned. I've recently turned off the automatic updates & the security center from the services console. The updater was making my shutdown run from 1 min. to 5 min. I don't use a AV progy I'm running Commando Firewall(freeware), Pest Patrol Corporate version & Trojan Hunter. So far no issues a couple pieces of spy ware from time to time. I think you have the record for the longest introduction here, congradulations. :D

and I always thought a redneck was someone who:

Has their monitor is up on blocks.
Sets all their passwords to "Bubba".
has a Coors can in the cup holder(CD-ROM drive).
has a keyboard that is camouflaged.
and calls the mouse a "critter".

guess I had the wrong definition all this time,

I have to go tell all my relatives to stop calling me redneck now. :D

I use Yankee Clipboard(freeware), accidentally click on the URL in the window & it direct me here.:) I read a few entries & by my assessments it look like this forum had allot of mature people registered. So I wanted to register. (cut MT taking Miss Cheri Hand & gives it a gentlemanly kiss) Thank for warm welcome Miss Cheri and the rest of the community!!:D BTW I'm a bit rusty on my use of coding on forums. It's been a year & a half since I did on a regular bases. Almost my whole family is made up of rednecks, that's the jeff foxworthy kind of rednecks.

for any of his sayings I think I have a relative who has done it... Like:

You might be a redneck if your Christmas ornaments are made out of spent shot-gun shells.

(seen more than one of those on a tree at Christmas) lol.

and of course they can all make just about anything from a empty beer can - hats, visors, little animals. (that's not a joke, just the truth.)

Yep i agree with thw Hi Tech Redneck. Born and bred Redneck in B'ham AL. I kind of like being dumb, helps not doing other peoples work. Quit school at 15 1/2 and went to sea. Retired from US Navy "chief ". 1 Year college PHSY ,then i figured out most phsy were nuts then quit, Naw run out of Money.
