Email verification for new users

if you are a new member and have signed up but can not post then check your email and click on the link that was emailed to you to activate your account and allow you to post.

Because of the amount of spam we have been getting lately we have added a new signup procedure.

New members signing up will be required to click on a link that will be emailed to them as part of the sign up process.

New members will not be allowed to post messages until they visit the link that is sent to them.

If a user's account is not activated by the user visiting the link, it will remain in the 'Users Awaiting Activation' usergroup.

Sorry for the inconvenience but it is something that we must do, if you have trouble signing up because of the new system please

first go to this page

and type in your email address and send yourself another email to verify your email account.

if that does not work, then click on "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page and send me an email describing your problem and I will help you get signed up.

if your having trouble you can also send a PM (private message) to one of the admins.

This is good idea and it hopefully should help with cutting down on spam

My guess is that it will eliminate between 50% to 80% of the auto posting software from working.

some spam software can verify emails some can't, so it will eliminate all the spam software from posting that can't verify their email.

So it kind of depends on how many people are using this type of software but based on other sites I know about it's usually more than half, somtimes a lot more, that it knocks out.
